Do you need help with the differences between Adaptive Behavior, Employability, and Social Emotional Behavior when considering needs for an IEP? Here are some tips.
Behavior SDI for Special Education Teachers
This course is intended specifically for special education teachers who support students who have IEP goals in the area of SEBH. Team reps are encouraged to attend alongside their special education teachers.
This course is designed to equip participants with the tools and knowledge
they need to effectively address challenging behaviors exhibited by students. Together we will uncover practical strategies to diagnose, design, and deliver high-quality specially designed instruction (SDI). Through a combination of
evidence-based strategies and best practices, we will address the diverse needs of students with behavioral disabilities. By focusing on the underlying functions of behavior, participants will be equipped to develop strategies that promote
positive behavioral changes.
Team Reps, please share the flier with your special education teachers and school teams!
Extended Agreement for Universal Protocol for Accommodations in Reading (uPAR) and Read Write for Google
We are excited to inform you that the agreement between the Iowa Department of Education and Iowa’s AEA to provide the Universal Protocol for Accommodations in Reading (uPAR) free of charge to all Iowa schools has been extended through the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year. In addition, Read&Write for Google is also available for free to any school district that is using the uPAR with students. This means that if the uPAR has been given to ANY student in the district, the district can obtain a free license to use Read&Write with all students in the district. What a great opportunity to try it out with kids!!
This extended agreement is a great opportunity for our Central Rivers’ schools to provide their students with access to these high-quality resources at no cost. We encourage you to share this information with your school districts and encourage them to take advantage of this offer if they haven’t already. We would also be happy to work with them, if they need a refresher or further support in using it again.
Here is a flier that can be shared with the schools with a link to request the uPAR. Once the schools have used the uPAR, they will be able to request Read&Write. At this time you can request it through contacting Jennifer Cline or Abbi Martin. Our AT team would be happy to provide the support needed to implement the use of uPAR or Read&Write.
Thank you for helping to spread the word of this great opportunity.
