The Iowa Department of Education is offering in-person professional learning sessions to learn more about implementing the 2024 Iowa Academic Standards for Mathematics which were revised in May 2024.
Please note this is NOT a repeat of the virtual sessions held in May and June. These sessions will provide more in-depth learning around specific aspects of the Academic Standards for Mathematics, including:
- Focus Levels
- Identify the major work of grade levels or courses
- Aspect of Rigor
- Define the aspects of rigor and their characteristics
- Discuss exemplars for instruction
- Fluency
- Define fluency
- Identify fluency standards for grade levels or courses
- Standards of Mathematical Practice
- Define the characteristics of SMPs bundles
- Crosswalk Document
- Explore the changes at your specific grade level
Time will also be provided to discuss implications for district implementation.
